Malaga is a beautiful city in the south of Spain and has many great beaches. Malaga is located in the region that is called Andalusia, and this region is famous for the beaches it has to offer. Of course, there are also many other great things to do in Malaga like explore the historic center or take a day trip from Malaga. There are many beautiful beaches in Malaga but in this blog, we have made a selection of the top 7 beaches that can’t be missed.

Playa de la Malagueta

Playa de la Malagueta is one of the most famous beaches of Malaga and is only a few minutes away from the city’s center. The beach is 1 kilometer long and is known for its calm water and soft sand. This beach is a favorite spot for families and sunbathers. It is close to the city center which means that there are many restaurants and bars at this beach making it a perfect spot for a day trip. So if you want to visit the city center first and go to the beach after Playa de la Malagueta is perfect for you 

 

Playas del Palo

If you want to visit a beach as well as visiting a small town this beach might be what you are looking for. Playas del Palo is located in the charming village of El Palo. This beach is easy to get to from Malaga but it is far enough that it won’t be as crowded as other beaches in Malaga. The beach is known for its calm water and is perfect for paddleboarding. If you get hungry there is no need to panic, because there are many great restaurants right next to the beach. 

 

Playa de Burriana

This beach is not only seen as one of the best beaches in Malaga but it is commonly rated as one of the best beaches of Andalusia. Playa de Burriana is located in a town called Nerja. This town is around 50 kilometers away from Malaga. The beach is a kilometer long and is surrounded by cliffs giving it a dramatic look. The beach also has turquoise waters and if all this is not enough you can also explore nearby caves in this area. This all makes it worth the drive from Malaga.

 

Playa de la Caleta

Playa de la Caleta is really close to the historic center as well as the Playa de la Malagueta. This beach has a natural bay with golden sands and calm water, which makes this a true hidden gem. A great promenade starts from Malaga Center to this beach, so if you enjoy walking or running on a promenade this will be perfect for you. There are also plenty of restaurants and bars at this beach, 

 

Playa el Dedo

Playa el Dedo is also pretty close to the center of Malaga. It is located 7 kilometers away from the center, which makes it a great beach for you if you don´t want to travel that far from the city but still want to go to the beach. The sand at this beach is different than the others, it is a dusty kind of sand. Some people say that the sand here feels like dirt. So if you don´t like sand that much this beach might be perfect. Playa de los Álamos

This beach is located west of Malaga and is perfect for sunseekers. The beach is famous for its vibrant atmosphere and has many great bars. The beach is located in a place that is called Torremolinos. The beach is long and the water is clear which makes it a great beach to consider visiting. This beach is most famous for its great beach bars where you can relax and enjoy a cocktail in the Spanish sun.

 

Playa de Guadalmar

Despite that this beach is so close to the city it still offers a tranquil escape from the crowds. There is also a beautiful promenade right through a natural park.
